ROBUSTA KAFFEE
Der Robusta-Kaffee ist eine Pflanzenart aus der Gattung Kaffee. Sie wurde im 19. Jahrhundert in Afrika entdeckt. Mit etwa 30% der Welt-Kaffee-Ernte ist Robusta nach Arabica-Kaffee die zweitwichtigste Sorte. Diese Art ist weniger empfindlich gegen Krankheiten, Hitze und hohe Feuchtigkeit und somit einfach anzubauen. Der Geschmack von Robusta ist nussig bis holzig. Robusta ist im Geschmack deutlich stärker und härter, hat dafür aber einen volleren Körper und einen höheren Koffein Anteil von 1,7% bis 4%, weswegen er vor allem für Espresso und für crema café geschätzt wird. Die Robusta Bohne ist kleiner und ründlicher und weist Noten von Schokolade und Cognac auf.
ARABICA KAFFEE
Arabica-Kaffee, auch Bergkaffee oder Javakaffee genannt, ist die wirtschaftlich bedeutendste Pflanzenart aus der Gattung Kaffee innerhalb der Familie der Röte-gewächse. Im Gegensatz zur hitze-beständigeren und schneller wachsenden Pflanzenart Robusta-Kaffee zeichnet sich die Bohne des Arabica durch feinere Säuren und deutlich geringeren Koffeingehalt von 1,1% - 1,7% aus. Besonders für Filter Varianten wie cold brew, cold drip, french press oder pour over ist der Arabica besonders gut geeignet, da er seine Fruchtnoten bei diesen schonen-deren Brühverfahren besonders gut zum Vorschein bringt. Die Arabica Bohne ist länglicher und hat einen kurvigen Schlitz.
